Instead of breaking the tree, I broke the stick

The multimedia constellation Instead of breaking the tree, I broke the stick comprises seven works that, in their interplay of image, object, video and performance, are dedicated to a state of cinematic transcendence towards distant wilderness through the lens of pop music influences. Wall works based on film stills are the leading motif as an abstract window with a view into worlds taken out of time, while items arising from this visual current are arranged on and around these windows and lend themselves a new identity to their meaning as objects: an axe blade is fitted with eye- lashes, a model house seems to carry the universe within it and a roof is flown through a sky by birds. The central element is the object oscillating between a creature and a hunters high seat, which transforms the entire constellation into a stage. The high seat, with seemingly wearable elements such as a helmet and shoe, forms the platform for the performance Star-struck, in which I connect myself to the constellation and perform the self-written pop song, serving as a medium of the works, feeding from an fragile inner world. Here, a distant, seemingly forgotten wilderness has its say through a pop musical channel.
